Fortnight magazine has been providing incisive commentary on all aspects of life in Northern Ireland since 1970. It is the North's longest running independent publication.
With a stream of award-winning regional and national journalists attached to it Fortnight has been able to comment freely and without prejudice on politics, arts and culture.
As Gerry Adams put it: "A month without Fortnight would be twice as long."
Fortnight started publication in 1970 in the hope of making a contribution to resolving the political and security crisis in Northern Ireland. Like everyone else we failed to stem the rising tide of communal conflict. But the magazine survived the bombs and the threats of bankruptcy that destroyed so many others and has continued to provide a broad range of detailed and constructive political and community analysis.
Fortnight has also built a reputation for high quality coverage and writing on the full range of arts and culture. We plan, with the support from the Arts Council, to promote new writers and critics, as we have since our inception. We hope you will continue to "read them first in Fortnight."
In May 2007 we underwent our biggest redesign to date with a new look magazine and an updated web site which includes an archive featuring the best articles over the years. Like our Local assembly we have relaunched and look forward to the next 37 years. |
